Many professionals belong to LinkedIn but few do more than create an online resume that gathers dust (until job search time). This is too bad because it offers some powerful tools to help you grow your business.
At my weekly BNI (Business Networking International) meeting we get together to exchange referrals. During the meeting each member has 30 – 60 seconds to tell the group about the type of businesses they are targeting. Most of us (myself included) give a pretty general description of the type of company they are seeking. The more savvy in the group share the names of specific individuals in target organizations.
Finding the name and title of the exact person you want to meet is often difficult. Enter LinkedIn. By using it’s Advanced People Search capability you can often find specific individuals in your target market. But that’s not all. It also tells you if any of your LinkedIn contacts are have a direct link to someone in the search results. And it’s very easy to use.
